I find the Gamespot subscription to be worth it.  It's cheap.  I get fast downloads of things.  It has decent reviews of things.

I dunno, HL2 looks like it could suck. This for instance still looks exactly the same as it did in the leaked beta, and erm,... back then I was still hoping it was only an early version of the map. But, I'll hold off any definitive judgement until I play the full game.
