So I click Yes, thinking this topic might be interesting... But I don't know of any evil. I can tell you of things I can't understand that I'd easily classify has horrible, but nothing I'd label as evil.

Other than the fact that I was an oldest child, and therefore tortured and tormented my brothers for well over a decade, I really don't do my evil myself. Naughtiness & sin, yes. Evil, no.

I have had evil ex-girlfriends, like the one who intentionally seduced my best friend, so that I would catch her giving him head when I walked in our apartment. Or the one who dumped me for a farmer/janitor/Spock ear wearing Star Trek fan, married him, murdered him (allegedly), then gave my description to the police.

But for the most part, my life has been relatively evil-free. I've seen cruel people, and mean people, but very few evil people. Good for me.

Life is full of misery, loneliness, and suffering - and it's all over much too soon.

ign.com is evil. Every once in a while I'm tricked into going there, knowing the entire site is uninformative, badly written and useless. And every time, each page I load causes my browser to hang for about thirty seconds. Why? What are they doing? Are they using java to load some proprietary plugin which exists only to show a two meg flash ad? No other site does this. And when I do get to the article, half the time it ends with "We'll bring you further coverage as the story develops." Isn't that a given? Are they implying followup information for stories without that sentence will be ignored? "We'd like to tell you the breaking news about Halo 2, but we forgot to foreshadow it. Check Gamespot."

As long as we are sharing our impressions of "evil", I got this URL some time ago. It is a medical textbook example of a child's disease (referred to as "Harlequin fetus"), so you most certainly do not want to click the link I'll provide at the end.

It is funny (not literally) how there is no way people can express their vision of concentrated wrong - no better (as in: worse) way to paint the cliche that is the face of Satan and the colloquial horror than nature has already found using a newborn baby as a canvas. So, what does that tell us about our established imagery of evil? Oh, and do. Not. Click.

You dated a spam filter?

I am curious as you how you found out and what happened when you did though. I wouldn't even tolerate someone else reading my mail, but the audacity to censor someone else's just boggles the mind. I'd have dumped her on the spot, with extreme prejudice. Did she attempt to justify it at all?

She was an ex at the time, too. This was after we broke up. As I recall, a friend we had in common later told me about it, after it had stopped.

Well its a movie about Satan, a really really hot Satan.

What is evil is that its a horrible movie, yet I watch it everytime I see it on.

Plus the DVD on TV girl is rather hot.

Keep in mind, we get a fairly filtered "Japanese people". Not so many wacky internet sites about a salaryman who goes to work then goes home, rinse, repeat in an utterly mundane way for 30 years. And if some anglo geek in Seattle did all the Mario stuff on his or her guitar the response would be about the same. Besides, if we weren't obsessed with the Japanese, we'd just go back to being obsessed with the British, or (going back farther), the French, the pre-communist Chinese, etc etc.

I recognize that we're getting a filtered impression of Japanese culture, but it's through that same filter that our obsessions are born.

Much like the Japanese obsession with American culture routinely produces some of the dumbest shit you'll ever see.

If people would focus on being themselves and not trying to be what something else tells them they should be, we'd all be better off.

And yes, white, asian, black, martian, whatever... wasting your time learning the mario theme on guitar is lame.

I think the closest thing to evil I have ever encountered was in highschool, where me and two friends got jumped by a group of about 10 guys who decided they wanted to beat us up for no particular reason. Managed to get a beer bottle broken over my head. Not a bad experience, all in all. Now, spending three hours in the hospital afterwards while the doctor picks glass out of your eye, that kinda sucks.
