Lets talk about censorship and the Ontario Government slapping Manhunt with an R rating, effectively preventing its sale to minors.

Or we can talk about how Sam and Max was canned because it wouldn't be fun anyway, and all you Sam and Max fans are just suckers for nostalgia.

Or we can talk about how Warren Spector is going to make Thief 3 the best Thief game ever.

Once we draft, how soon can we initiate trades? Also, since you are commissioner, Trunks, can you veto trades?

No, Charles has a point. There's no reason to slap Manhunt with an R rating instead of an M, since they mean the same fucking thing. And Rockstar is only fighting the decision for publicity on their insipid game.

Well, there is a reason.  The ESRB M rating can't be legally enforced, but the R movie rating can.

Also, we could talk about the RunUO UO server emulator project.  They are going to be finished soon, and they expect 95% of the official UO servers to be implemented.  They also have a nice class setup using the .NET framework that allows you to write scripts in C# to modify the game behavior.  I've considered running one myself and implementing some of my myriad MMO ideas.  Maybe some crappers would be interested?

Information on trading is here.  The league is currently set with a Trade Deadline of August 15, and a 2 day trade review period.  As for veto power, we're currently set to "League Votes."  That can be changed to Commissioner if needed.

I was really looking forward to sam&max.  Some might find it pathetic, but I am looking forward to any kind of adventure that can bring "teh funny", some clever puzzles and fun sidegames.
Knowing that my only hope lies in a revamped 3d version of Larry doesn't help.

I figured you might be interested.  I'm not sure how much time or effort it will take to do things, but I really do want to try and fuck around with RunUO.  The biggest problem is a total lack of documentation, which will make development hard.  But I might be able to start with a few basic things.  I'm going to see if I can get the server running on my home machine, and see if I can play from my box.  If I can, and can test things that way, I might be willing to go the distance.

It would be fun to go back through the site and pick out all the MMORPG discussions we've had, and actually implement some of the ideas to see how they play.  Assuming the RunUO scripting system allow large scale rule modification.

All the funny in the original Sam and Max was over in the first five minutes, and none of the puzzles were clever, only obtuse.  I will hand you the sidegames though.  Whack a Rat fo' lyfe yo.

Yes.  An objection of four or more managers within two days will veto the trade.

Well, Gabe has access to a hidden SearchPC utility, and nothing but free time on his hands, so maybe if we ask nicely and thank! him, he'll find the old MMOG posts. That, or we could just brainstorm RIGHT HERE. It's all good.

I'm all over brainstorming here.

My main issue with UO that I would like to work one would be implementing a proper thieving/law system.  This will heavily depend on my ability to implement large systems with their scripting stuff.

Trailblazing, most likely, since their forums are filled with a bunch of newbs that don't even know how to program and are trying to do stupid shit.  However, I'm hoping that they have a few people on their forums who are intelligent enough to answer questions directly.  Their 'top poster' has 18 thousand posts since he joined a year and a bit ago.  His average is something like 35 posts a day.  Every day.  That's some serious cat ass.  Anyway, he's an idiot and a retard, and I'm pretty much not expecting too much out of their forums.

Here's an example.  Just glance through the thread and you'll see what I mean.  Phantom is the 18k poster.

A messageboard discussion about fantasy baseball contains so many levels of indirection before we finally get to swing a bat.  It's like we're talking about talking about talking about someone pretending to report statistics of a pretend person swinging a bat.  One more layer and the whole construct may implode.

Unless we want to use pretend people swinging bats.  We'd just need a copy of whatever the best baseball game is this year...is it the Sega stuff or the EA game this year?  I always just used the High Heat series before 3DO went under.

If only we can get Konami to get their freakin' Pawapuro series over here...bringing over Winning Eleven is a start I suppose.
