So much better than the first one, or spider man, or maybe even batman.  Maybe, just maybe, the best comic book movie of all time.  Less of the spiffyness of being mutants and more of the reality (if such a reality existed) of being mutants.  It was lovely.

As for Bobby/Iceman...yes, that would be way beyond his current power level, at least in terms of the movie.

Yes, WAY better than the first movie.  Storm was useful this time around and everything was pumped up to a higher level.

A few plot holes, but nothing to get in the way of enjoying the movie ... worth seeing in the theatre, no doubt.

Well I enjoyed it, that's for sure and I'll definitely agree it was better than the first, could have used more Collosus and more Nightcrawler (after the first 5 minutes nearly all of his teleporting was off camera!). I wouldn't say it was better than either Spider-man or Batman though. They also need more recurring bad guys, Magneto and Mystique just don't seem like enough to go up against the entire X-Men crew. I feel it also suffered from some of the same problems as the first, they essentially ignored many of the relationships that there are between many of the characters in the comics. Last time it was the history between Wolverine and Sabertooth that was the most glaring and they did the same thing again between Wolverine and Yoriko. I don't think it would destroy the movie if they just admitted there was some history between these characters instead of them being totally oblivious to each other. Still thoroughly enjoyed it, might even see it again should the opportunity arise.

It's a Steve Buscemi vibe.

Trunk: Dude, the movie was 2 hours long, what did you what? Frankly, I sorta thought it was TOO close to the comics in some regards.

Colossus was VERY cool, but lets be real - it made sense to send him away to watch the kids, and frankly, he alone would have blown the whole FX budget. Show more Colossus, or show Jean Grey manifest the Phoenix?  Talk about Wolvy's history with Lady D, or just get to what has to be one of the coolest fights in movie history? I mean, seeing those two stab each other over and over again...man. And the mansion attack soooo reminded me of when Wolverine snuck into the Hellfire club to rescue Jean.

I was happy to see hints of Kitty Pryde, Banshee's daughter, Leech, and of course Beast. Not to mention the one thing I didn't expect at all, the rise of the Phoenix.

I mean, I think singer does a hell of a job giving fans of the comic nods left and right, but he can only do soo much. Too much history, and the movie would have just bogged down into the Wolverine show. While Wolvy could carry a movie, this was the Xmen after all.

Now seriously, open a window, cause I think I geeked up the room.

All I'm asking for is a "we meet again" sort of thing, I'm not asking to be told the entire history I'm just asking for aknowledgement of a history, one line would have been enough in both the Sabertooth and Yoriko incidents. I don't think litterally 3 seconds of dialog would bog down the movie. Besides if they had done that and had they kept Sabertooth and Lady Deathstrike alive they could have setup a great Wolverine spinoff movie.

It's a Steve Buscemi vibe.

I'm sure it's in the works, if not it probably will be after this one racks in the cash. Wolverine has by far the most backstory of any of the X-Men, and he's the most popular X-Men character I'd imagine.

Yeah, only they already established in the movie that he doesn't remember anything from before the claws. I mean, why not wish that they tell us Wolverines real age?

Really, I think you should be happy with what you got. It's good enough. The Xmen span what, 30 years or so? They can only do so much in 2 movies.

All I want in the third movie though, is the Phoenix, and Sentinels. Give me those two things, and I'm happy. I want a massive fight where you see mutants die, and I want you to see guys like Angel or Havok off fighting in the background against giant robots and/or Dark Phoenix, and I don't want the movie to stop for a second to tell me, "Oh hey, How are you Warren? Hey Havok, love the wacky costume". Just a big ass brawl.

Marvel's CEO and President he hinted that they're considering a Wolverine and Storm spin-off movies (I'm sure the latter is just to kiss Halle Berry's sweet perfect ass so she would stay in the franchise).

Having never read the comics, I could tell that Wolverine knew Deathstrike from somewhere else just by the way he looked at her. For me the back story between the two was there in what wasn't said.

X3 - Hellfire Club  (if you check the X2 credits, there's one for Sabastian Shaw)

X4 - Dark Phoenix (provided there is an X2)

Err... I meant provided there is an X4

One of the thing that Bryan Singer said in an interview is that in his opinion the "comic book films" need to be episodic.  Which is why elements of X1 lead directly into X2.  And elements in X2 will lead into X3, and so on.

I saw Jamie Madrox on the screen (the Multiple Man).  That was the one that stood out to me.

Beast started out not being blue, but an experiment performed on himself turned him that way.  But he was always a mutant.  He was strong, agile and dexterous.  The only thing that the experiment did was make him furry, teeth pointy and added a healing factor.

I think you should be happy with what you got. It's good enough.

See, I don't think it is, they could easily stay truer to the original stories of the characters but chose not to. I can still appreciate the movies for what they are and I enjoyed both, but because there was an active decision to alter the characters and stories I'll always think it could be better by doing simple things that wouldn't affect the plot of the movie nor would they break anything within the movie. I would enjoy them more and I think people who are familiar with the characters would enjoy them more. Really one of the main reasons I don't love both X-Men movies is because I feel they took way too many liberties with the characters. I think movies like Spider-man proved that you can stay true to the comic and still have a good movie, I love all the references to the comic that are made in it, yes some liberties were taken but they tried to change as little as they could. They could have done the same with X-Men, christ I'm willing to bet Stan Lee and Avi Arad gave up their rights to approve the script cause I can't believe they'd let so many changes (radical in many cases) to so many well established characters get in the first X-Men.

Yeah, only they already established in the movie that he doesn't remember anything from before the claws

Yeah which they also established happened 15 years before the first movie took place, but a guy like Wolverine probably lived a pretty boring life right, nevermind the fact that in the comic Wolverine had an established past with both Sabertooth and Yoriko both before and after his memory loss.

It's a Steve Buscemi vibe.
