Rumors of our death are greatly exaggerated!
June 17th 2002, 12:56 CEST by Morn

And what's up with this?

Update (June 18, 09:05 CST): how typical, right after coming back from its 10 day vacation, the server decided to crash tonight. It was apparently down for something like 4 hours, and fortunately, I was able to fix things remotely. However, this was the fourth crash in something like two months, so I guess something is wrong with the machine. Before I let my ISP from Hell (TM) check it out though, I'll just move everything to a new server and cancel this one. I'll keep you updated.

Yay!  It's back!

Life update:  I'm posting from vacation on Nantucket.  It's pretty.  Unfortunately, my heart decided to have a four hour 160-220BPM techno dance party shortly after I got to the island. The heart isn't really pumping blood at 220 bpm, it's just sort of vibating, which doesn't make the extremeties and the brain happy at all. Not a heart attack, thank goodness, but several hours of tachycardia and atrial fibrilation which was resistant to four rounds of efforts to re-establish my normal rate and rhythm.....sucked, let me tell you.

The good news, (I guess), is that according to all the tests they ran on me, my heart is in pretty good shape for a sedentary fatass. No enlargement, no blockage they could see, no damage to the heart muscle.  But when I get to the mainland, I have to see a cardiologist to try to figure out what happened. Yay.

and can I just say that the clip of Mick McCarthy's jaw dropping when Keane scored against Germany (in the last minute of injury time, securing us a draw when all had seemed lost) and that bloke crying when Keane scored the peno against Spain are the two bestest non-game clips of the entire tournament so far.

The least you Spaniards could do now is win the bloody thing :-)

Yeah I saw that post at fatbabies a couple of days ago.. pretty funny really, I didn't believe it but then I thought it was probably someone in the chat that day you guys were kidding to me about Gamespy buying PC :P

Anyway about VoodooExtreme.com, the only domain that will work for a couple of days is www.ve3d.com and I think one more.. can't remember.  The rest arn't working but should be fixed soon.

Anyway glad to see PC back up!

Last year my husband insisted on taking me into the doctor because he thought I had something more serious than a cold. They ended up X-raying him, finding out that he had a hole in his diaphram and that all of his lower internal organs were now sitting in his lung cavity (flattening one lung completely), then taking him into a surgery a week later to gut him like a fish and fix it (they had all those internal organs out of his body and lifted out of him to work, like moving the engine of a car to work on the other stuff). Because beds were at a premium, the yanked the hundred tubes he had stuck into him three days later and sent him home with a pat on the back and some percoset. It was too soon, so he developed a fever and couldn't get out of bed -- the doctors told me that if his fever broke 102 to bring him back in because that means he developed an infection due to the surgery. I had to set my alarm every two hours at night for a week to give him his pain killers or else he'd wake up screaming in pain. And then six months later he had to go back into surgery because the first one tore.

Yeah, I hate doctors. :P

deadlock:

Yeah, he's okay now -- the second surgery seemed to fix the problem, although he's developed some pain again in the abdominal wall where they cut so we may have to have it looked at again. It was pretty frightening, yeah, especially when during his first night at the hospital they were late getting his epidural refreshed. Imagine having yourself cut in two, basically (cut down the front and cut across the back) and less than 8 hours after surgery running out of your pain killer. I wanted to throttle the damn nurses. I had to take a week and a half off to take care of him at home while he recuperated and he had to spend three months at home. But he's back on track now.

After the surgery, they called me in the waiting room to tell me that I could go to ICU and see him. I walked up and he was just filled with tubes and needles going into him (actually made me ill and I had to run out of the room, heh), and he had the presence of mind to say, "I am Locutus of Borg..." in this very weak voice. :)

Oh yeah, the hole:

They don't know what caused it -- the surgeon said he probably had it when he was born and years of working manual labor just made it grow. It was a really creepy looking x-ray. :P

Matthew:  Was the bug the problem with editing your profile?  If it is then I'm getting that as well.

Caryn: That really sucks, glad he is getting better now.

My grandma had cancer but it spread so they ended up having to remove her stomach, she has been in and out of hospital and they had to stop the chemotherapy because she kept on getting chest infections.   She finnally got out today from hospital after being in there for a week, she kept on vomiting whenever she ate so she ended up losing around 20kg.

However she is doing much better now and is eating as much as she possibly can (which isn't too much since she hasn't got a stomach) and she hasn't vomited for about 4 days which is really really good.

The thing that pisses me off is that the doctors don't seem to know anything, they don't know what was causing her to vomit every day.

In celebration of PC coming back up, I would like you all to join me in reciting the Morn's Prayer.

Our Morn, who art in Wiesbaden,
hallowed be thy nick.
Thy fandom come,
thy Blah be done,

Give us this day our daily 'Crap.
Forgive us our troll-feeding,
as we forgive those who troll-feed against us.
And lead us not into fanboi-ism,
but deliver us from Andy.
Amen.
