C-Shirts coming soon!
July 13th 2001, 13:09 CEST by Morn

No crap for you today, I'm afraid.

I'd like to finally get those PlanetCrap T-Shirts (C-Shirts?) made. The design is ready (yes, it's black, with white text), and I've been talking to a couple of places who would produce the shirts. Unfortunately, there's one little problem: all of them are over here in Germany, and if I have them produced over here, international shipping will cost as much, or even more, than the shirts themselves (something like $20 just for shipping! Or $10 if you're willing to wait a month or so until the package arrives via sea/land delivery). The shirts themelves will be something between $15 and $20 each.

What I'd like to do is have the major number of shirts (or maybe even all of them?) produced over in the States, with the same place who prints them also taking care of order processing, handling and shipping, but I have no idea where to go. The C-Shirts are supposed to be somewhat high quality, so CafePress and its brethren are not an option. Maybe one of you has already done the shirt thing himself and can hook me up with a decent T-Shirt/etc printing company in the US of A?

Unless, of course, you're all perfectly fine with paying up to $20 to get your shirts shipped to you all the way from Germany.

Chances are I may have to do it in Germany anyway, due to tax issues. We'll see. :/

I'm not sure. Planetcrap is an in-joke that, to us, makes a lot of sense.

I'm not sure I want AMOTP (a member of the public) spotting me in a "PLANETCRAP" logo.

They might get the wrong idea.

FYI, there's not going to be a logo on the shirt (since there is no official PC logo, duh), just "www.planetcrap.com" on the back and a slogan on the front (in big, fat letters, but I won't tell you what it is at this point. :b)

I'd pay for the international shipping, but would prefer not to.

Also, those designs at the top of the page, the little dinodoggie thingie that says "ru nubi" and the other little guy with the big hat speaking spanish: I'd love to have those on a shirt.

If you made three shirts, all that say www.planetcrap.com on the back, I'd get one of each. I can imagine you might not want to start with multiple designs though.

Good luck on the project, I don't know a blessed thing about t-shirt manufacturing, sorry. I'll just help by promising to send you money later. Har.

Well, the bronto and Captain Whitebeard are not my... IP. *shocker*  I know I should already have included some sort of notice somewhere at the bottom of the page (I don't think the "all trademarks" one covers it). I'm a m0!

But I definitely can't put them on T-Shirts.

I know! I know! It's one of Darkseid's lines right?  The one about arguing with morons?

Blue's News uses Game-Skins for theirs. Their FAQ says the minimum order is 800 pieces for custom work, but they might be willing to work something out.  Oh, polycount got shirts done there too.  I understand they do pretty good work, but I haven't bought anything there myself.

If the DeCSS mob can put the enire decryption source code on a T-shirt, how about the names and e-mail addressess of regular visitors.

Bonus: play spot-the-spammer (*1) at the local mall as they try to write down all the addresses.

I stole Derek Smart's smarty man developer brain powers, and used them to read your mind.  I definitely didn't go and check the html source. Nope, too easy.

Not only that, I was about to post that link myself, so I had a pretty good idea of what it was going to be already.

I would have thought they'd be grey, given the overall colour scheme here for the past year (excepting the planethappy time *eyes spasm*)

Assuming Euro shipping is cheaper, I'm willing to pay the price (and hey, for this once in a lifetime $$$ opportunity, I ain't too worried overall).

And if you're making them in Darkseid sizes, I can always use it as a duvet cover :)

How about this: Morn chooses the design for the first one (which is how it is gonna be regardless; and to be sure, we are all here in part because we love Morn dominating us), and whomever buys the most of them, gets to choose the design for the second.

Consider, that the nature of the site is such that any wanker with the resources can spam the board with troll droppings and smacktalk. What if one these ghits has access to enough money?

I think it would be a poor idea to get multiple designs on the first pass.
