Our long national nightmare averted - NFL season is on, fantasy football owners rejoice. And other sportsy topics.

Sports thread for 2011-2012, at the very least given how long topics stick on the front page.

With only about twenty active posters left on the site, you'd think the people left could figure out how to get past the front page.

That would make sense...if there were more than none active topics on the front page still. Cracker.

Also, thank you Trunks! Looking forward to the new season! Are we going to wait until start of preseason to draft? I don't remember when we normally do it...

If we do the usual and hold the draft the week before the season starts, then it would be sometime on the weekend of Sept 3-4.

That's a good point. I did not realize that was the same weekend. I will usually be out doing something myself on that weekend...

The Teen Brides will triumph this year.  They will also pick a QB with the first pick as they do every year.

Hmm... I usually pick first round QB too. But that often means I am low on RBs. I am thinking maybe I will change my strategy a bit this year. Guess depends where I pick and who is left...

I'd pick a kicker in the first round.

You don't want to be stuck without a bye-week kicker, either.

We'de need another unless you want someone to have a bye week every week, and I'm not in favor of bye weeks.

Didn't we have a couple of zombie teams last year we could cut?

I would gladly play two teams, and for that burden I'd just take a guaranteed first overall pick. Thanks!

We had two zombie teams, which we cut last year so we were down to ten teams. I think that's where the whole issue started.

Yes, the zombies were from two years ago. Zombies are not good, either.

Wasn't Nutty in the league a few years back, and didn't he try to grief m0nty by playing scrubs against other teams?  Zep is a troll too, and you kind of get what you deserve with trolls.

Yeah, Wudi/Zep. You know I don't dislike you (well, internet you), but you have trolled hard in the past. Said horrible things merely to get a reaction.

That stuff sticks. Trust me, I am known as the hippy who cares too much (that's how I like to view it anyway) here. Whatever the reality is, people here especially, have a hard time looking past their known stance on someone and seeing something different.

So if you aren't going to troll us anymore, great. If you want that perception to die, you need to give it time and effort.

The hippie thing wasn't exactly a one-time thing that "stuck", you were spouting hands-around-the-world, all problems can be solved with empathy bullshit yesterday.

Also, this:

Don't make me bring my world views into sports talk!

But, since you did. All I was saying is that empathy is a lost ability these days. Seen as a hinderance rather than a part of the bigger solution it is.
