Same here.  As I mentioned in another thread, I think this series only exists now to pad launch game numbers.

I got Ridge Racer for my PS2 at launch.  It's the worst racing game ever conceived.  You know that "rubber banding AI, you can't make a single mistake or you lose" shit that everyone hates in racing games?  Ridge Racer starts doing that in the 2nd race.  Yes, the 2nd.

The fact that they keep saying "BUT IT ALSO PLAYS BLU-RAY" amuses me greatly because there isn't any damned Blu-Ray content out there. It's like selling a car that runs on some wacky fuel that hasn't finished its development cycle yet.

"But it runs on Hydroslidinol! That's a bargain right there, imagine having to convert your car later! It'd cost you a fortune!"

Fixed.

Oddly enough 404 is close to their asking price of 425, but that's ~US$850.

I think Sony must have taken some really basic marketing classes before they did this release... "Ok, we say the price, then we say cheap and bargain. Over and over and over. It's genius."

It's not genius and the system is way over priced. Why does it cost so much more than a 360? You're average consumer isn't going to care about Blu-Ray, because they won't be owning any Blu-Ray discs yet. I'm no Sony hater, but I think they are pulling a Nintendo/Sega here and just assuming they've cornered the console market so now they can do what they please.

Yeah because releaseing blu-ray content with nothing but a two pc drives (one avalible only in japan) to play it on would make for some killer sales numbers.

Heck the first batch of content was delayed until June because none of the stand alone players come out until then.

The cool thing about the PS3 is that even with the exorbitant price, they're still probably losing over a hundred dollars per console.

That's some money well spent to play Uno.

The original Ridge Racer on the PSX was pretty good at the time. I bought Ridge Racer 4 which included a remake of Ridge Racer 1, only in higher resolution, and it just wasn't the same.

I think Sony's problems are 1 part hubris, 2 parts megacorporation.  Blu-ray wouldn't even be an issue if Sony was just a gaming company or if their gaming unit had the freedom to do what they want.  Pressure from other parts of the company to force Blu-ray inclusion in hopes of helping it become a standard (something Sony has always sucked at in the past, so I'm not sure why they are so confident this time) is very likely.   If it pays off, they'll be laughing all the way to the bank because they'll make a fortune on licensing Blu-ray, but I'm hoping it fails miserably.

Fuckin' Sony.

I guess buying a deck of Uno cards and having your friends over to play just isn't extreme enough. Now, if they release an online version of Fireball Island, I am totally fucking there.

SqueakyFoo's Top 10 Games:

UNO
Oblivion
Geometry Wars Evolved
Smash TV
PGR 3
Gauntlet
Hexic HD

Yeah the Xbox360 still really needs some good full-blown games outside of Live....

On the plus side, it makes it easy to wait to buy one in hopes that when I do pick one up it has the first rev problems with overheating and such worked out.

The DVD audio fiasco should have been enough to teach those idiots a lesson. No one wants to listen to a CD in 5.1 stereo while sitting on their couch. Especially when the acronym for said DVD is a porn term that puts two cocks in one hole and two in another.

Anyone see many SACDs or DVD-As out there lately?

Well, I've had it for all of a week, and have only really played Oblivion on it. I don't know why Uno is listed as first, because I've only actually played it twice. I've played far more PGR3 than geomtery wars, smash tv, and gauntlet combined.

If all of your friends live on another continent, you should probably try and figure out why you can't make friends locally.

There is no way blu-ray will take off.  It's not just blu-ray vs DVDHD, it's both of them vs the consumer's complete disinterest.  Just like the minidisk, it's a format with no market.  Except the Japanese, those idiots will buy anything just because it's new.

I haven't downloaded Uno yet, but it's high on my priorities list of things to do this weekend.  Many hours were spent skipping class to play back in college.  I was reading that the game allows for progressive rules where you can stack the Draw Two/Draw Four/Skip and Reverse cards.  This was the way we played back then, and it makes for hilarious gameplay.
